Day 56

Well we thought we were done with winter but Mother Nature had other plans for us!! It started snowing on Sunday night (3/1) around 7pm and didn't stop fully until Monday afternoon (3/2) around 5:30pm. Harry and I both stayed home and worked from there. We couldn't even get out of our driveway in the morning....there must have been about 14 inches of snow at the foot of our driveway. There are pros and cons of living on a busy street....we get plowed right away but then there is a ton of heavy, slushy snow right in front of our driveway.

Harry took the snow blower out and it took him about 1.5 hours to clear the driveway. We haven't had snow like this in a few years. Its beautiful to sit inside and watch it come down but horrible if you have to drive or be out it it.

Day 55

My niece Bella, my mom and I went to a "Mother & Daughter" Luncheon that Bella's school PTA sponsored. My sister was working and couldn't make it so asked if we would take Bella. It was at a local catering hall. We had a fabulous time. The food was great, the kids danced and danced and danced! It was great to watch them all dressed up also.

I took this picture of Bella with my cell phone...we laughed because she said it looks like she has a huge head.

Days 53 & 54

I was out kind of late on Thursday night with an old friend, so needless to say I slept late on Friday morning! :D nothing exciting going on and the same thing for Saturday.
Harry and I did catch a movie Saturday night..."The International" It was very good.
There was a scene in the movie that was filmed around the corner from my office building. There are these 2 guys that run a food cart...I see them all the time and they were in the movie! I will have to see them today and tell them that they are famous!! LOL

Day 52

Harry took me out for dinner for my birthday...we had sushi.

Of course we were playing around and he grabs my Blackberry and starts taking pictures of me.

When I stuck the edamame in my mouth like this he was laughing so hard! I just had to share!!

Day 51 - HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!!

I woke up this morning, very tired, then I remembered...its my birthday! It only comes once a year, so enjoy it! :D My birthdays are different than others...I got older each year until I hit 21...then I have stayed the same age for 23 years! Isn't that a great trick??? ;)

Day 50

This is where Pesto sits while I am on my computer. I think he thinks he is a bird the way he is perched on the printer. He then chases his tail and falls off of the printer. He does this every night....I didn't say he was the smartest cat around! HA-HA

Days 46, 47, 48 & 49

After a really rough week at work, I wanted to do nothing but stay in bed....hence the lack of posts to my blog. Sorry all!
It was a good weekend. Had the family over for dinner on Sunday. Everyone enjoyed then we had cake for my parents anniversary, my moms b-day and my b-day. The actual day is on Tuesday but its easier to get the family together on a Sunday. :D
I am hoping that this week will be a better week at work. Keep your fingers crossed for me! :D

Day 44

Last night was my Parents Meeting for my Daisy troop. The moms came with the girls. The girls colored and decorated some things, while I talked to the moms about the program. I think it worked out well and I even got 2 more girls that are interested in joining. YAH!!!

The uniform that the girls will be wearing is a blue tunic. They wear their pins on the left side and in the middle, the wear their "petals" which is the equivalent to badges for the older girls. Each petal is a different color and represents a part of the Girl Scout Law. The middle of the flower represents the Girls Scout Promise and the Law. They receive that after they can recite them both. They all seemed very excited! :D

Day 42 & 43

Not much going on. Just a nice relaxing weekend. Saturday night, Harry and I were watching a movie and of course Pesto has to be right there with us. He never leaves our side! LOL I saw him sitting on top of some boxes that I had in the corner and I had thrown a blanket in it...guess that was his clue to sit on too of it. I took this picture of him...look at how scary his eyes look! HA HA he looks like he is possessed!

Day 41

Today we celebrate Valentines day....a day early!
Harry and I are always disappointed in any restaurant on a holiday so we decided to go out on the 13th instead of the 14th. We went to our favorite restaurant 21 Main and had a fabulous meal. It was delicious as usual and we weren't rushed.

I even got the most beautiful flowers from Harry!
they smell as lovely as they look.

Day 40

Last night I had my very first Girl Scout Service Unit meeting. A Service Unit encompasses all of the troops in that area...from Daisies to Senior scouts. Its all the leaders and/or co-leaders. We get together once a month and discuss things going on, the coordinators let us know about events going on and deadlines we need to meet. I was a little nervous going into the meeting, because I didn't know a soul, never meet anyone face to face only spoke to a few either on the phone or email.

A sign in sheet was being passed around as the meeting started. when it got to me, I signed it then had to get up to pass it to the table behind me. As I got up, Sandy (the woman running the meeting last night) says "and I would like to introduce our newest leader, Lisa." with that, I am standing...I really just needed to pass the sign in sheet to the next table. I say that I didn't mean to stand that I was just passing the paper to the next table. I know I had the "deer-in-headlights" look on my face. Everyone just clapped and laughed at my remark. They made me feel very welcome. After the meeting, so many of the ladies came up to me to welcome me to scouting and tell me that if I needed any help to call them.

Now to an "untrained eye"...LOL...you would think this would go without saying, being that Girl Scouts should always be helpful right? Wrong! With my last troop SU meeting, I never felt welcomed. Never got any help. So, to get this type of reception was a 180 degree turn for me!! I even volunteered to help a Senior troop leader do a "Back to Basics" camping type training for the unit.

I told Harry that I think I am going to be VERY involved in this GS thing! He just laughed and said why should it be any different than anything else that you do. :D

Day 39

I should have posted this on the correct day but ohh well here goes!

February 7, 2009, is a new birthday for me. Its been 4 years since my Gastric Bypass Surgery. Since that time I have lost over 180lbs and have gained my life back. It was a semi-hard process, anytime losing weight and keeping it off is a hard process. Of course at the beginning, the weight just sort of fell off of me, and as soon as I got signoff from the doctor (April 2005) to start exercising, I joined a gym and worked with a trainer for a year straight. That's what really helped me lose the weight and tighten up as much as I did. I still have about 40-50 lbs I would like to lose...easier said than done! I will do it though, then go for some plastic surgery to get rid of excess skin and to help my girls go back to where they belong. HAHAHA

I can not imagine ever going back to the weight that I was, I was so unhappy and uncomfortable. I got a compliment on FB the other day from someone that hasn't seen me in years. She asked if my FB picture was current because it looked like my HS yearbook picture (it was taken over 25 years ago). I laughed and said, no its current! it made me feel GREAT that someone would say that I looked so young!

I was debating on whether or not to put up a before and after pic. I am still thinking about it. I will make this post now and when I get home tonight I most likely will post the pics.

37 & 38

The weekend was very quiet. Just hung around the house, did some cleaning and tossing some crap I had sitting around.
Today was BEAUTIFUL! Harry and I took a nice long walk around the Holtsville Ecology Center. It felt good to be outside and not have to be bundled up with coat, hat scarf and gloves!!

Day 37

Today I went to my first part of my Girl Scout Training called Daisy Dazzler! I really enjoyed it and I have another 3 hour course next Friday. I have been working on getting my troop together and planning our meetings. I hope that the girls will have fun. :D

Day 34

The weather people were saying we were going to get a huge storm....I have heard it before and I know not to listen anymore!! LOL

Well it wasn't snowing when I left this morning but by the time I got home there was about 3 inches on the ground. It was perfect snowball snow!

When I got home, before I went into the nice warm house, I took this picture of the lights in our garden.

Days 29, 30, 31, 32, 33

WOW...its been a few days I know. I was at my weekend crop and it was FANTASTIC. I have a few pics from the weekend that I will post.

Yesterday was Ground Hog day and he saw his shadow...booo hoooo...6 more weeks of winter! Today we are supposed to have a huge snowstorm but it maybe just rain. Who knows!! LOL

Days 27 & 28

Sorry folks but I didn't get to update the past few days. I have been busy packing for my weekend crop and trying to do laundry and such! I will get back in the grove tonight. Girl Scout promise!! :D

Day 26

My mom received a frantic phone call from my Grandfather this afternoon that there was something wrong with his phone (he could not make any calls). Hmmmm...my mom wondered how he was calling her if the phone want working. So she called me and asked if Harry would go over and see what the problem was. We went over there right after dinner and my Grandfather just unplugged the phone and decided to put an older one in its place...one that didn't work. Well mystery solved. I told him that if he doesn't stop playing with his phone...this is the one he is going to be using...



and I'm not kidding!!!

Day 25

Well you remember how I told you that our cat Pesto has 2 beds yet sleeps on our king sized bed...guess its softer for him. HA Well this morning I got up and where do I find him but in his new bed....that we call the space shuttle. It kind of looks like something that should be in space. So therefore, he is our space shuttle kitty!! LOL

As you can tell, he wasn't too happy that I was taking pictures of him so early this morning. Maybe he was planning his take-off!

Day 24

I bought this sign at a home store a few weeks ago. I then ordered a shelf to hang it on...so today Harry and I hung it. I LOVE the way it looks and I hope that inspires me everyday. :D

Day 23

Sorry not post for yesterday. I was busy running around then I went to a crop with friends last night. Got home late. :D

Day 22

Here is my cat...Pesto. He is a little over 4 years old and totally spoiled! LOL He has 2 beds but sleeps on our king sized bed. As I am working at my desk, he feels the need to sit in front of the monitor and stare at me. Hmmm....its a little unnerving and when I stare back, he just jumps down and takes a nap. HAHA

He loves to sit on any box that's around...even if its too small for him! :D and apparently cleaning can be done anywhere and anytime!!

Day 21 (I know a day late)

I didn't get to post last night because by the time I got home, got dinner up and did some Wii...it was time to watch LOST. Nothing and I mean nothing was going to pull me away from the Tv last night! 3 hours of Sawyer, Jack and Sayid!! Yummy!!!

Day 20 - Inauguration Day

its been quite a day....the day this country inaugurated a bi-racial president.

I didn't vote for him but I do think this is a very important step for our country.

I wish him luck and I hope that he doesn't disappoint anyone that thinks Obama is the "savior"

Day 18 and 19

I didn't get to post a picture yesterday because I was at the crop late and when I got home I was beat.

Today, we had a "play date" with our niece Bella and nephews Shamus & Teddy!
My sister dropped them off around 10am and we had breakfast, I played with the boys while Harry played Wii with Bella. She kicked his butt in tennis! LOL

I didn't get a picture with all 3 kids but here are the 2 boys and myself. Notice my hair...this is what happens with I play with them...it looks like I didn't brush my hair. LOL

Days 15, 16 and 17

I am sorry that I haven't updated my blog in 3 days...I have been very busy packing for my all weekend crop....and now I am at the crop! Thursday, we got a bunch of snow,so when I got home I had to shovel, then pack the car and drop all of my scrapbooking stuff off at the hotel. By the time I got home, it was late and I was tired. I got up early the next morning and was at the hotel by 9:30 am. I was unpacked and working by 10:30!! Goooo Me! :D

Day 14

One week to go........until the much anticipated new season of LOST!! I am so hooked on this show thanks to my brother in law who said...here is the first seasons DVDs why don't you watch them! Hmmmm...I was hooked the first show. :D

My love for the characters changes each week...one week its Jack, the next its Sawyer and another time it will be Said! They are sooooo sexy each one of them in their own ways. (Harry don't read this my love...LOL)

Day 13

Well I am home from the oral surgeon and so far my mouth hurts a bit but not too bad...LOL we will see later! I has the procedure done with only local Novocaine...it really was a quick thing.
She put some stuff in the hole...that will help my bone grow for my future implant. OMG...I know this is going to cost me an arm and a leg but I cant go without a tooth...can I?? LOL

Here is my picture for the day...I tried to smile but since 1/2 of my mouth is numb...it was kind of a smirk!

Day 12

Yesterday wasn't a good day and I didn't get to take a picture but then again, it wouldn't have been a pretty one.

I had a huge problem with my dentist. Remember my post about loosing my cap, well I went to the dentist on Friday and he told me that he can not put the cap back on that the tooth has to come out. OK...not happy about this but I gotta do what I gotta do. So he gives me a name of a surgeon that he works with, I call but the doctor is not in my plan so I call someone that is. Get all the info, then call my dentist and ask them to fax a referral to the surgeon so I can go on Tuesday and get this taken care of.

Well, I wait until Monday morning to call the surgeon and check on the referral. They have not received it yet. No biggie (yet) so I call the dentist and give them the information for the surgeon...again! I wait until 1pm...make another call...still no referral. The surgeons office says that they would call the dentist and get the referral for me. Great..............NOT so much!

I get a call back from the surgeons office that the dentist says he doesn't this that he saw this patient. WHAT?!?!?!?!?!? I was just there on Friday, and there is a chart for me!

Well, my blood pressure went sky high and I called the dentist office because I know this has to be some sort of mistake. I get the dentist himself on the phone. At first I was calm and explained the situation. Then when he got mad that I didn't use his recommendation, I was flaming pissed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Where is it written that I MUST used your referral? I am supposed to go to a doctor that doesn't take my plan and pay out of pocket? of is it because you were going to get any "referral" money from this other surgeon??
Not my problem buddy.

I then proceeded to call my insurance company and put in a complaint. They even tried to call the doctor and help me.

Finally, late in the afternoon, I get a call from the dentist office that I need to call the insurance company and get a referral number to give to the surgeons office. I call the insurance company and they say that the dentist needs to fax it. I tell the woman on the phone that I have been going back and forth with them on this. She says, let me call them and to hold on.

She comes back and says they wont fax the referral because I am not using the one that they recommended. Again, I say "well I would have IF they participated in my plan, but since they don't I am going with someone else." The Insurance woman understood and then gave me the ref number that I had to give to the surgeons office.

I REALLY hope that getting the referral was the most painful part of getting my tooth taken out!! LOL

Next step....find a new dentist and hopefully my teeth will be happy like this guy!!!

Day 11

See it? Isn't it GREAT!!
What you don't know what it is? Its our new Wii console! Harry picked it up yesterday along with the Wii Fit Balance board! We have been playing it for hours last night and today. We had it hooked up to our big TV in the living room, but decided to get a small TV and put it in our extra bedroom. So now we have a Wii room! HAHA

Good news is my Wii age is only 34....9 years younger than my actual age!! Woo Hooo...go me!

Day 10

Today is a snow day AND a trip down memory lane! Well the big snow storm we were supposed to get seems to be fizzling out but it gave me a day to go through some old boxes I had in the garage.

The first 2 pictures for today are how I found some of my old high school and college pictures. Now as a scrapbooker, I am appalled that I would EVER have used one of those magnetic photo albums but I realized that even 25+ years ago, I was destine to be a scrapbooker. I know I have many more pictures but they are in a tin and not in albums like this. Guess this will be a good project for me to try in a few weeks.






Not only did I "scrapbook" photos but also I saved movie ticket and concert tickets. When I saw these tickets I knew I had to take a picture and put it on here. This was my very first concert....QUEEN...Sept 28, 1980! My uncle took my cousins and I to Madison Square Garden in NYC. I remember it being the best concert I have ever been to but then again who could top QUEEN? LOL

Take notice of the price.....$10.50 a ticket! We pay more than that now for just the fees on a concert ticket.




Ohh if I could only find my concert t-shirt from that night.....

Day 9

Tortilla Soup

This is the first time in almost 9 years that I have made this soup. You see, I made this soup the night after Harry and I got engaged....and the next day I was rushed to the hospital with a bladder infection so bad it was turning into a kidney infection! Now, of course, the soup had nothing to do with it, but because I was so sick, I couldn't even stand the smell of it. I decided that enough time had passed that I should be able to make it and eat it! LOL It worked! I made the best Tortilla soup I have ever had. Of course it was a sort of made up recipe...I do that sometimes but that type of dishes turn out to be the best ones. :D I added beans to it to make the soup richer but the ripe avocados makes the dish!

Day 8

WOW!! I am pretty impressed with myself...8 days...8 pictures!

Well here is my picture for the day. It was one of the rare times that Harry and I take the same train home (we always take the train into the city in the morning together). He was playing around and decided to snap a picture of me. See hm in the reflection? :D I know I didnt really take it but it was taken today!

Day 7

My picture of the day may seem strange...for the normal breakfast lovers....but for me, maple syrup is like taking cough medicine! BLEH!! My mom tells me that when i was a kid I loved the whole pancake/waffle/french toast breakfast with lots of syrup but one day my tastes changed and I can not even smell it without feeling sick.

Well tonight we had breakfast for dinner and Harry took out the syrup and put it on the table...right next to me! Of course it was just to bust my chops! HAHA He is lucky that I love him!

Day 6

Well it's never uneventful in our house...LOL...I was sitting at my desk and all of a sudden my cap fell off of my tooth! ARghhhhhh!! My dentist warned me that the cap was compromised but I didn't want too listen. Guess I have to call the dentist tomorrow and see if i can get this fixed!!

I will spare you the gross picture of my cap BUT I will share the cup that I put it in. HAHAHAHA

Day 5

This is what I see on my way to the subway each night after work! Its a HUGE Hello Kitty statue. LOL there are ALWAYS people taking pictures of it each night. Guess Hello Kitty is a hot commodity!:D

Its not a very clear picture, it was taken with my cell phone. Maybe later on n the year I will bing my camera with me to work and take a better one.

Day 4

Well kids, this is my sad-Im-going-back-to work-tomorrow face! BoooooHoooo!
I have had off since Christmas Eve and its been a very relaxing fun time off.

Day 3

Ok...all the Christmas decorations are down and out away. Im kind of sad yet glad that the 2008 holiday season is over. Now on to 2009. I have big expectaions for 2009...it HAS to be better than 2008!!

Here is a picture of our dinning room table with all the decorations to be put away. It amazes me how much we have accumulated over the years. This is our 12th Christmas together...my husband Harry and I....and it gets better and better each year. :D
